ISITHEMBISO BABIES HOME
Isithembiso exists because we refuse to let abandoned or orphaned babies in our city remain that way. Our vision is to see those babies placed in families that will love them as their own, and to this end we work as hard as we can, speaking up for those who can’t speak for themselves and defending their rights. If you are determined to make a difference in Port Elizabeth by standing up for the helpless among us, we want to speak to you.

Trans Baviaans Mountain Bike Race
The ASG Trans Baviaans, one of South Africa's premier mountain biking events, has been taking place since 2004. This year’s event is guaranteed to be another exciting ASG Trans Baviaans and better than ever!
On the 18th August 2012 the longest “single stage” mountain-bike race in the world, all 230km’s of it, is taking place in Eastern Cape, South Africa.
The Competitors have from 10am Saturday morning until 10am Sunday morning to complete the race.
As such, a team of riders, two social cyclists from Port Elizabeth, Duane Nel & Thomas Duthie, will use the Trans Baviaans as an opportunity to increase awareness and raise funds for Isithembiso Babies Home while doing what they both enjoy - cycling! All proceeds raised will go to Isithembiso as the team will fund all their own expenses, including entry fee, food, accommodation and their own riding kit.
How to get in on the action? It’s easy!
We would value your support by committing to sponsor our two cyclists by pledging an amount for every kilometre (230km) they complete, e.g. R10.00 per kilometre x 230 km’s = a donation to the Home of R2300 that will go a long way in helping us to care for our precious children!
We would like to request that the amount pledged be submitted in writing to isithembiso@oxygenlife.co.za by the 10th of August 2012 with the details of your company and the name & contact info (e-mail & phone number) of your contact person.

Both Duane & Thomas are avid cyclists and certainly not newcomers to this growing sport. Duane has successfully completed the Herald Cycle Tour 23 times, the Cape Argus Cycle Tour 20 times and this year will be his 5th Trans Baviaans. Thomas is the ‘rookie’ of the duo, a keen mountain biker for the past 9 years, having successfully completed the Herald Cycle Tour 3 times, the Cape Argus Cycle Tour 3 times, the Karoo to Coast twice and this year will be his second Trans Baviaans.
