Magazines, books and reading material of any kind!
One of the biggest challenges we face in rural schools and areas is that our kids aren’t speaking and reading enough English. In order for them to pass their exams and enter future study or work environments their English needs to be beautiful!
We need all your old English magazines (from cars to travel, farmers weekly to interior decorating)..if it’s in English – we want them! We’d also love to get our hands on books for young adults and teenagers. Think Sweet Valley High, The Famous Five and any other books that you read as a teenager or your teenagers have out grown.
We’ll collect them from you and then distribute them from Izulu Orphan Projects in Empangeni. This NPO is linked to a number of rural schools and these are the children which I Learn to Live looks at as future tertiary education students.
Improving their English not only improves marks and entry into university or college but it also improves their confidence when applying for jobs and engaging with clients, regardless of the context they find themselves.
